I moved to my new employer April 27th this year. I was taxed by my previous employer for the first four months of the year and got me refunded for the remainder of the annualized withholding.
My new employer had been deducting regular taxes from my pay since my first pay credit. However, a day prior to my November month-end pay, I received a notice from payroll that they'd be running after more than 10 000 pesos from my pay in order to annualize my income (apparently, there was a deficit). In turn, I'd be getting more than 3000 worth of tax adjustment on top of my regular withholding tax from November month-end till December month-end (a total of three consecutive cut offs).
It caught me off-guard due to the short notice. I had not prepared myself or the family I'm supporting about the meager
income that will come in in the following days. To add to it, it's also Christmas and enrollment season. Because of the incident, not only me, but my entire family is jeopardized. I couldn't determine it to be any employee's fault that they weren't getting the correct deductions, lest, make them suffer towards the end of the year.
Is there any legal course that I could take from here?
