My concern is that I have assumed the payment of a small lot in a private subdivision and now the first payer is taking his claim as the rightful owner.
My brother in-law is the first payer of the small lot but later stopped and his sister later on continue but then it was also stopped. My mother in law asked me to take the lot and continue the payments,which I did. I paid the penalties for the months the payments were stopped and continued the monthly amortization until it was full paid.
There was no agreement between us 3 payers since we are family & the 2 first payers were very close to me and loved them like my real blood family, trust is there, and it was a common knowledge in the family that i am now the owner. It's like i bought a repossessed property; but the thing is, the payment is always under the name of the first payer, since he was the one registered in the office of the real estate but the real estate knows that I am the last & new owner.
When I was paying the penalties & the monthly dues, they never interfere, but now that it's fully paid, the first owner / my brother in law is claiming that he is the rightful owner of that lot. they wanted to sell it and take their money. I have already given the lot to my daughter as a gift and she is only saving money for processing the title of that lot under her name, but the 2 payers were interfering & making problems.
Kindly advice me, what right do I have on that lot, because it seems that they only used me for their own benefits, and what shall i do to protect my daughter's ownership.
